I have been hearing very negative comment for some time now at it relates to the Abortion debate so I will give a biblical response to the vitriol on the Pro-choice movement and this article. The comment here by this MSNBC commentator (not a journalist) is completely unbiblical and the reading of this comment has never understood the Bible as it relates to this topic. She comments, “While I am a progressive feminist, I have often debated folks who are citing the Bible and shouting out Sodom and Gomorrah, that’s something they always say. And I would always push back and say, ‘Listen if Jesus is so great, why weren’t you nicer? Why aren’t you kinder? Why aren’t you more fair and kind to your neighbor and to your fellow human beings?'” she said, in reference to conservative Christians. First, her idea of kindness is surrounded by a mentality of, “if you disagree with me its hate.” So with that in mind let’s look at Jesus’ word and some Biblical passages that address these topics. Here are 5 things Jesus stated about “if” you are my disciple IF you have a love for one another, you can consider yourself one of Jesus’ disciples.

In John 13:35 we find Jesus saying, “By this, all people will know that you are my disciples, IF you have a love for one another.” IF you love as Jesus loved, forgiving others no matter what, meeting each other’s needs as Jesus modeled meeting the needs of others, then there is proof that you are one of His disciples.

IF you allow the only truth, God’s words, to guide every aspect of your life, then you can consider yourself a disciple of Jesus Christ. John 8:31 – 32 chronicles one of Jesus’ statements to his disciples. He said, “IF you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

IF you deny your own wants and wishes and live for the Kingdom of God then you can consider yourself one of Jesus’ disciples. Jesus declared, “if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.”(Mark 14:34b – 35)

IF your allegiance to Jesus trumps your allegiance to all others, including yourself, then you can consider yourself a disciple of Jesus Christ. He said, “IF anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26)

IF you’re willing to die for Jesus then you can consider yourself a disciple of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:27) Every person within earshot of this statement had most likely seen a crucifixion. They were fully aware that anyone who was crucified had to carry his own crossbeam through the streets, about one mile, where crucifixion would take place.

So, as you can see Jesus has some very strict statement for believers in Him. Also, the Apostle Paul gives his statements on the wrath of God on Sinful Humanity when he states, The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:18-32).

In addition, many will say “aren’t you Christian not to judge.” We’ll let look at the signature verse they go to. 1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. (Matthew 7:1-5). What they quote is verse 1 when they forget the context of verses 2-5.
Lastly, I could go on and on as to what the Bible truly states when we address this topic stated in the article. The fact that the Bible condemns killing as MURDER, not only in the Old Testament 10 commandments but in the New Testament (by Jesus) as well.

Much of what the unbelieving world thinks they know about the Bible and I would say as a Bible teaching of many topics, people claiming to be Christians are in fact Biblically illiterate as many statistics show.
