Title: Salvation

·       What I was before God saved me.
Ø Like sheep going astray Isaiah 53:6 - All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

Ø We are all sinners (The Genesis Story) Gen. 3

Ø NT Paul tells us we are all sinners. Romans 5:8 - But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:6 Paul says, when we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.

We were enemies of God Romans 5:10 - For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.

Ø God says we are dead in our sins (Eph. 2:1-2 - Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

Ø As an unbeliever, we are already condemned (John 3:18 - “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. God’s wrath was upon those unbelievers

(John 3:36 - And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”

Ø There isn’t one person that has not sinned except Jesus. But through Jesus you have redemption. (John 1:12 - But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Ø How is one saved and given redemption and eternal life with Christ in Heaven? Paul gives us that road map. We must repent. Acts 3:19 - Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. We are called to For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” We recognize that we are sinners and need to repent we accept what Christ has done for us on the Cross, acknowledge Him.

Ø God says I am redeemed, which means I have a new legal standing before God. (Acts 13:38-39 - “Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. 39 Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the Law of Moses could never do.

Ø The blood of Jesus Christ spilled on the Cross has cleansed me from the penalty of sin (1 John 1:7 - But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Ø In Christ we have 2 things, (Eph. 1:7 - He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

Ø Now we possess the 1 Peter 1:4 - and we have a priceless inheritancean inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

Ø We have 2 natures our own human nature and Christ’s divine nature. Since our human nature is worthless (Romans 7:18 - And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t., we ought not to obey its suggestions, for it is not trustworthy

(Phil. 3:3 - For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort. The divine nature should control our human nature.
