Christians and Prayer

When you think of prayer you're probably wondering I pray, I speak to God, but are you wondering if there is a right or a wrong way to pray? The Bible calls us to pray daily (Luke 18:1; 18:7; 11:3) but how, why, and when are harder to answer. I have always suggested to new and seasoned Christians to have a prayer life, one that is vibrant and often. But how, and when.

The how is easy to answer, its the when that we struggle with at times. How should we pray? First I should start with why, Matthew 6:6 tells us that prayer is powerful and effective, that we are to go into our room (any room) and "pray to our Father, who is unseen." Or in Psalms 18:6 "In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to y God for help." We are to pray continually the Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:18 "and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." "Praying in the Spirit," simply means with the Holy Spirits help. To pray about everything.

I have a growth strategy that I believe is the key to a new and seasoned growing Christian. The three are Pray, Discipleship, and Love (Our Identity in Christ). we have discussed pray, discipleship is God's way of growing us in His Sons (Jesus) image, and Love (John 13:34-35) Those of the world will know us (Christians) by our love. This shows our identity in Christ. who we are and whoms we are.
